Annual General Meeting
Thursday 23rd January

Physic Garden Hall, Petersfield, 7:30pm.

We began the year with our AGM which was very well attended. Kazua Mori kindly came down from the Japanese Embassy to talk to us, assured us of the Embassy's support. He kindly said that anyone who needed more information about Japan was welcome to contact him. Diane Norman gave a delightful exhibition of Ikebana flower arranging.

Informal Koto Concert

Melissa Holding gave a wonderful informal concert for us, playing the koto and singing.

Let's Sushi
Friday 23rd May

United Reformed Church Hall, Petersfield, 7:30pm.

Yasu Minowa, who runs his own company providing sushi-rolling parties or plated sushi, kindly came to teach us how to roll our own sushi. Twenty happy people had great fun learning to do this, then enjoying a party together to eat the sushi! Yasu-san kindly awarded prizes for the best-made sushi!

Garden Party
Held in July

Our Annual Garden Party was held in the beautiful garden overlooking the Downs attached to one of our member's houses. Joji Hirota and his Taiko drummers and Emi Watanabe the flute player entertained us.


Japanese Pottery for Food and Drink
Thursday 25th September

Jill Fanshawe Kato traced the influences which have contributed to the unique washoku cuisine, which in 2013 was given Unesco cultural heritage status.
