Introduction to the Society

The society was formed as a friendly group based in the southern counties of England to promote Japan and its culture. For 20 years until 2014 we ran a formal calendar of events and supported other events which our members suggested. events included talks on Japanese culture, both ancient and modern, and practical demonstrations including cookery, drumming and Kendo. We also existed to assist Japanese people living locally.

In 2015, the current committee decided it was time to wind up the society's activities. Now, the society is run on an informal basis with no formal calendar of events. We continue to promote Japanese culture, support Japanese living locally and promote and support events as required.

We still encourage people living in the area to participate in events we may organise or you may wish to inform us about an event linked to Japanese culture. We are happy to hear from people who wish to participate and if you would like to contact us, please do so by e-mail at jsscenquiries@gmail.com
