AGM.
Due to the current tragic events in Japan, we
used this AGM as a fund-raising event for the British and Japanese
Red Cross We announced the appointment of
our new Patron, former British Ambassador to Japan Sir Graham Fry.
Daisuke Tsuchiya Ist Secretary of the Japanese Emnbassy , Heidi
Potter, Chief Executive of London’s
Japan Society and her
colleague Yoko Kobayashi joined us. There
was an Election of Society
Officers. Then Heidi and Yoko-san taught us
clever ways to use furoshiki, traditional
Japanese cloth squares, and Tsuchiya-san drew the raffle, which raised
over £300.00.

us and talked about bonsai and his group’s interest in it, and showed us

talk by Mary- Grace Browning MBE who has
been involved in Anglo-Japanese relations since the age of 14.
She has taken exchange groups of young people to Japan and from
Japan to the UK for 25 years, combining this with being a part-time
teacher of Japanese and Science.

Jay. This
remarkable former BOAC senior pilot
has made a life-long study of Japan and its martial culture.
Speaking fluent Japanese, he is respected in Japan and the UK for his
mastery of many martial arts, and as an expert horseman and archer.
